Gyu Gyu Tei, Bangkok - Prepared by Thaiaholic
Travel Period: July 2010
For those who love Japanese Yakiniku, this is a MUST!
A Bangkok hidden gem for great Japanese Yakiniku. Now every time I have BBQ then there’s a pop up bubble… I wish I’m at Gyu Gyu Tei. Even though I’m not a beefeater but their pork is such a good substitution. We heard about this BBQ shop from local word of mouth that they serve good quality import Japanese beef such as Wagyu, Matsusaka and Kobe for BBQ.
As I said I don’t eat beef so I gotta bring along my beefeater friends to judge this pleasure. We ordered Gyu Gyu Tei Beef, Super Wagyu Beef, Ox Tongue, Pork Liver, Pork Toro, Buta Honetsuki, Prawn, and Mushroom. And of course we paired the BBQ with garlic fried rice and Sunchu veggie set. Wondering about the taste? It’s fantastic and speechless. My friends said the beef is so tender, juicy and heavenly delicious. For my Pork Toro and Buta Honetsuki or Pork with rib it’s totally amazing and very tender too. After having your meal, you can help yourself with fruits and dessert that they provide as a complementary. In the end we all agree that every time we come to Bangkok we have to come to Gyu Gyu Tei.
FYI… Gyu Gyu Tei is actually a branch from JOJOEN Yakiniku in Tokyo. There are more than 50 branches around Tokyo too. The owner used to run a shop there for 10 years and he decided to leave Japan for Thailand.
There are two branches on the same street so for my recommendation please go to the second one behind Happy Life Condo with better setting and air conditioning.
restaurant.
Enter Ratchada 18, once you see DOME please turn right and left again. Then keep going very straight until the very end. Then turn left and go straight until you see Happy Life Condo. The shop is located behind the apartment near small soccer field.
